Tioman Island 25-27.7

Our trip to Tioman Island was anything but easy. First we travelled 8 hours in a night bus from Jerteh to Mersing. Then we had to wait for a ferry to leave from Mersing to Tioman island. It would have been no biggie, but firstly Anna's friend Elina was joining us from Singapore and her bus was about two hours late and secondly our ferry to Tioman left one hour late. So after arriving to Mersing at 7 am we finally got on a ferry to Tioman around 12 pm. The ferry ride took around two hours, which all of us except Oliver spent mostly dozing off.

We had decided to stay on Juara beach for the next couple of days so we still had to take a taxi from the harbour in Tetek beach to Juara. That took us another 40 minutes. Finally we arrived on Juara beach around 3 pm and took chalets from Juara Mutiara resort down by the beach. They were a bit shady with holes on the floor and the roof but had aircon so we decided that they were good enough for us. We also decided to take precautions and spray our room with insect repellent.

That day was almost over after we had taken showers and had lunch at a fairly good place on the beach. We headed to the beach for a bit before getting ready to go for a dinner.

We chose to eat at Juara Beach Resort, a quite popular chinese restaurant also down by the beach. After dinner we were all exhausted and headed straight to bed.

The next day we ate a nice late breakfast on the beach. The weather wasn't the best for a beach day but we still sunbathed for a while at one end of the beach where a small river flows into the sea.

After having lunch at the same place we had our brekkie (all the other restaurants had a "break" from 2pm until 5pm) we decided to walk to a nearby waterfall. Unluckily nobody told us that the whole way there was uphill. We almost died in the heat and barely made it to the falls. The waterfall wasn't that amazing but the water was nice and cool. After dearing to jump in we stayed at the waterfall for an hour or so before heading back to our chalets.

This was the last evening for us since we were leaving early next morning to Singapore. So we took some last evening's photos at the beach before a thunderstorm hit us. There were huge bats in the trees near the beach which were going crazy as it got darker.

Our last dinner on Tioman was again at the Juara Beach Resort because apparently it was the only place we could get beer from :D After the dinner we said our goodbyes to Anna, Riku and Elina and packed our stuff ready for next morning's taxi drive to Tetek beach and a ferry ride to Mersing.
